Dr Ini Adinya is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Mathematics, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Mathematics Education). She currently serves as Sub-Dean (Physical Sciences) and has held several administrative roles, including Examination Officer and membership of key departmental, faculty and University committees.
Her research lies in Applied Mathematics, with a focus on stochastic analysis and its applications, particularly in relation to finance and machine learning. Her work has been published in reputable international journals in the mathematical sciences.
Dr Adinya is a recipient of several honours, including the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talent Award (2023), the Nigeria Outstanding Lecturer of the Year Award (2023), and the Africa Hero Award by Global Skills Hub (UK).
Dr Adinya plays an active leadership role in the mathematical community. She is a Council Member of the Nigerian Mathematical Society (NMS), Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Women in Mathematics (NWM), and Vice Secretary of the African Women in Mathematics Association (AWMA). She also serves on the Membership Committee of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and is a member of the European Women in Mathematics (EWM). She is also a member of the Steering Committee of Women in Sagemath, Africa (WiS-Africa).
She contributes to international capacity-building initiatives, including the Wis-Africanprogramme, and has participated in conferences, workshops, and training programmes across Africa, Europe, and North America. She has also secured grants to organise scientific events in Nigeria.
